CANTERBURY PROPOSALS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.} CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 18. A suggestion for the control of broadcasts of representative matches was approved by the management committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association to-night. It was agreed to forward a remit for consideration by the New Zealand Cricket Council at the general meeting; “That (a) the New Zealand Broadcasting Board be granted permission to broadcast a description of play in representative matches, no fee to be charged for the privilege, the home association to have the right to select or to approve the announcer, the Broadcasting Board to permit newspapers in the main centres other than that in which the match is being played to- use the broadcast description; or (b) the Broadcasting Board' to he charged a fee for the right to broadcast.

IMPROVING 3YA PLANT

NEW TOWER CONSTRUCTED

CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 18

The second tower of the new transmitting station for 3YA at 'Gebbie’s Pass was completed this morning, and before the end of next month a new plant will he put into operation. This will make 3YA the most efficient radio station in the Dominion and enable its programme to be heard with great clarity in places where it cannot at present he picked up.
