At the • concluding sessions of the Baptist Union Assembly a resolution was passed strongly protesting against the prevalence of gambling and criticising the publicity given those who had “smuggled money out of the country” and won foreign lottery prizes. A resolution favouring international disarmament was passed and stricter censorship of films and poster "was called for.

It was decided to celebrate next year the centenary of the Rev. Spurgeon’s birth in June and it was recommended that there should be an aim at doubling the church membership by a “discipleship campaign” in the coming year. The next assembly will be held at Wellington, so that the jubilee of the missionary society might bo celebrated in the following year at Dunedin, the city of the foundation of the society in 1885.
