FATAL ’PLANE SMASH
WOMAN KILLED; HUSBAND HUBT PILOT INJURED SLIGHTLY. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copy right.) BABAUL, Oct. 16. An aeroplane owned by the Babaul Airways Syndicate crashed at Kokopo. Mrs Graham Mirfield, a popular member of Babaul society, was killed, and her husband was seriously in- * j tired. The pilot. Captain. W. Duncan, formerly of the Royal Air Force, was slightly injured. WELL KNOWN AT GISBORNE. HONEYMOON VISIT RECALLED. (By Telegraph —Press Association.) GISBORNE, Oct. 17. ; „ Mr and Mrs Graham Mirfield visited r" Gisborne on their honeymoon early _ in the present year, the bridegroom being the son of a’local architect. Mrs. Mirfield was the daughter of a well known Babaul trader. She possessed a sparkling personality which won immediate popularity among a wide circle of her husband’s friend® here. Graham Mir field went to Babaul a® an engineer to Carpenters Ltd., later becoming manger of the firm’s factories. He re cently took up land.
