mSS ROBERTSON CHAMPION. MRS ROTA BEATEN IN FINAL. An excellent match was staged on Wednesday by the finalists in the Hawera, Ladies’ -Golf Club championship when Miss C. G. Robertson beat Mrs I. Rota, 3 up and one to play. Miss Robertson early established a lead but her opponent stuck to her task and made a good fighting finish. The players opened with halves at the first two in 4 and 6 but, playing nice golf. Miss Robertson won the third in a bogey 5. The fourth was halved in six and then Miss Robertson took the short fifth in a nice three and was two up. Both got well away at Outlook and were on in three, Mrs Rota on the edge. Miss Robertson holed her putt for a birdie four and Mrs Rota just failed. Miss Robertson followed ’ this with another fine 4 at Sandy Hook making her 4 up. Both pla.yecl the eighth nicely and they halved in par figures. At the ninth Mrs Rota .sent away a perfect drive, Miss Robertson being, shorter and the former put her third a foot from the pin and then was stymied by her opponent who won in another 4 and they turned, Miss Robertson five up. At Smoko both were through with the tee shots and Mns Rota, making no mis take, reduced her deficit in a pretty three.. Both got away well at Plateau and were on in three and a half .e----sulted, in fives. Mrs Rota played two perfect shots at Cliff and sinking her putt, won the hole in a birdie three to her opponent’s four. At Pacific both drove well and ills Rota, playing her second to the green nan down in 4, Robertson taking: 6. having played her second iust through near a hummock. This made her two up and five to play. At the next both, got awav well from the tee 1 and were just outside with their seconds. Miss Robertson ran up her third and, sinking her putt won the hole in a par four and was three up. Again, the tee shots were level and both played nice seconds. Miss Robertson pitched • n tt-eIL and, her opponent playing nicely, i half resulted in'fours, Miss Robertson dormie three. Both drove well it the 16th, Miss Robertson isligbtly longer and both were close to the green with their seconds. Miss Robjrtson spoilt her approach and •is Rota, running up her chip shot, was town in four and won the hole, Miss Robertson still dormie. The match ,vas decided at the 17th when good 1 rives were followed by nice seconds ind then their thirds lay on the green. Sirs Rota to the left. The latter's burth ran past the hole and she missid her putt. Her opponent also miss'd her five and half-stymied her and Vlrs Rota lost the hole Miss Robertson Suing:down in six. This gave her tbe natch 3 up and one and the championhip for 1933. This was Miss Robertson’s second iig .success this season, for she won he South Taranaki championship at he annual tournament.
