CHARGE OF HOARDING

The first gold hoarding indictment in the United States was secured to-day, when the Federal Attorney heard a charge brought against Frederick Campbell, * well known lawyer, who yesterday brought a suit against the Chase National Bank in the Federal Court for the return of 27 bars of bullion valued at 209,000 dollars, which he had entrusted to the hank for safekeeping. Campbell is reported to have said, “He did not care if he had to go to gaol in defence of his -.constitutional rights.” The maximum punishment under the law is ten years imprisonment and 10,000 dollars fine.
