HAWERA TRACK WORK

The trial grass was not used to a great extent yesterday morning during training operations on the Hawera tracks, most of the work being done on the plough. Both tracks were in good order. On tlie grass La Crown and the Diaequenod—Areola three-vear-old were given useful working gallops. Aga Khan (Feasey) and Diagano (W. Pine) galloped five furlongs in 1.5 without being stretched out at any part, both moving freely On the plough Chief Line, who is beginning to hit out well in his work, galloped five furlongs after exercising a round, in I.IOJ. Richfield (Mills) went a round at half-pace and sprinted the last three furlongs of his second circuit in 38 3-5 sec.

Gibraltar (Sheild) and Attentive (Feasey) were companions in a working gallop over seven furlongs in 1.40, finishing together. Attentive is coining on nicely. Round Table (Coyle) sprinted smartly over the last two furlongs of his work.

Arouse cantered a round and' ran three furlongs down the back in 42sec. St. Clara, who has had a few days’ spell sinnee racing, looked bright and well and performed her exercise work pleasingly. Oriel (M. Conway) galloped seven furlongs in 1.35?, after taking 15sec, over the first furlong. Oriel, who is to have his first race at Waverlcy, is working very resolutely. Don Erma (M. Pine) again finished in front of Ingenuity (Covle) in a working gallop over a. round. Don Erma and Ingenuity are both to race at Waver ley March Alone (M. Conway) was given another schooling, this time over five fences. The big chestnut shaped better this time and is a promising beginner.
