WESTFIELD*SALE KEEN WETHERS IN SHORT SUPPLY AUCKLAND, Sept. 27. Competition was again keen for most classes at the Westfield sale to-day. Prices were generally very firm on last week.

The yarding of beef was slightly greater than at the previous sale, but still met with a brisk demand, and prices .showed a barely quotable rise. Extra choice ox sold to 20s a 1001 b, choice and prime ox 17 s to 19s, secondary and plain ox i4s to 16s, prime young cow and heifer beef ISs to 20s, ordinary cow beef 1.3 sto 15s, Extra heavy steers made £B‘ 15s to-£9 7s 6d, heavy prime steers £7 15s to £S 7s 6d, lighter prime £6 15s to £6 12s 6d, small and unfinished steers £5 2-s 6d to £5 15s, heavy prime cow.s and heifers £5 10s to £5 17s Gd, lighter prime cows and heifers £4 to £5 ss, other billable cows £2 10s to £3 ss : .

There was a fully average yarding of calves. Competition was steady, but values were hardly as good as those ruling at the last sale. Runners made £3 5s to £4 2s, heavy vealers £3 2s to £3 11s, medium £2 16s to £3, light £2 3s to £2 Bs, small £1 7s to £1 12s, unfinished and bucket-fed 12s to 21s, bobby calves 3s to Bs.

The sheep market also met keen bidding. Wethers were in short supply and advanced about Is a head. Ewes, however, were plentiful, and prices were unchanged.
