NEW AUCKLAND LOCATION. HENDERSON SITE CHOSEN. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 28. After conducting exhaustive tests to discover the most suitable locality for the proposed new IYA radio transmitting station, the Broadcasting Board has purchased land in the Henderson district. The chosen site consists of lot acres and is about 26 miles beyond the Henderson township on the way to Helensville. The price has noit been revealed.
Complete agreement that the site is admirable for 'transmitting purposes has 'been reached by the board's engineering experts who carried out investigations in search for a desirable location. The nature of the land, which is bounded by creeks and a mangrove swamp, ensures good “earthing,” and there is no high land in the vicinity.
'-Mr R. Hutchinson, a member of the board, said it was proposed to erect a single-Storey reinforced concrete building on the property. Plans and specifications were being prepared and tenders would be called as soon as possible, also for the contraction of the new IYA studio on a recently-acquired section iri the city.
