THIRD RAID ON OPIUM DEN
COURT INCREASES PENALTY

In view of the fact that the premises had been raided by • the police three times since March, increased penalties weTO imposed by Mr. Page, S.M., on a Chinaman arrested yesterday as tne occupier and manager of an opium den Zung Lnm, who was fined LoU in March, was sent to gaol for three months in addition to a line of £/o. Ah Man and Jim Yim, who were found smoking, were each fined £-»>, and An Show, who was found on the premises, was fined a similar amount. A senior-sergeant of police said that since the last raid, on June 29, lie found the premises had been cleaned up somewhat, but very little. The only improvement he could see was in the barricades, more smoking accommodation and more elaborate pipes.
