The indications now are that the fellmongens-’ strike -will be protracted. The abattoirs’ strikers returned to work yesterday and the dispute with the employers lias been settled amicably. The fellmongers’ strike, however, is progressing. A mass meeting of operatives to consider the terms has rejected the proposals and the industrial registrar has been) informed by the strikers’ leaders that the conditions offered are regarded as luisatisfactory. In view of the fact that the strike has dislocated export trade and' the men have rejected the proposals for a settlement, there is speculation a.s to whether the Federal Government will invoke the Crimes Act. The employers have notified the wool-selling brokers that they will not attend the sheepskin .sales as buyers and the postponement of the sales is now being considered.
