HAWERA TRACK WORK. LABOUR. DAY IN PROSPECT ' (By “Limited.”) With Wanganui meeting over and nj Haver a horses entered for Ota hi meeting, local trainers will be concerned in the Waverley and Wellington Racing Clubs’ Labour Day fixtures next month. The Waverley meeting is a popular one for Hawera trainers and the majority of their horses in active/ commission will be engaged there. There was little interesting work performed on the Hawera tracks yesterday morning, routine extercise work being the general order J. Brown’s Grand Knight gelding 'Arouse is so far standing up splendidly in his preparation and was allowed to rim along in a working, gallop over tliree furlongs with the Diacquenod— Avola three-year-oid in W. Pine’s stable. The pair, after completing the first furlong in losec, brushed home nicely in 42sec. Both horses shaped well. . The hunter Don Erma is showing marked improvement in condition and finished in front of Ingenuity in a sprint over three furlongs in 40sec. Don Erma promises to be a useful proposition as a hurdle horse, being a good jumper and possessing any amount ol pace. Whenuakura, who is to race at Foxton on Saturday, was given a jump out of the barrier in company with Carfex. Both horses were keen and as the barrier was released collided, almost unseating G. Duncan on Whenuakura. Duncan made a remarkable recovery and was back in the saddle in a tick, the two horses running to the two fur longs in 27sec. Oarfex (Vaughan) afterwards galloped four furlongs in 50 3-ssec. Havering is again a regular attend ant on the track and worked five furlongs in 1.13, going easily over the first part. Havering is very big m condition and will require some time to get into racing form. Diagano anel/Aga Khan, looking none the worse for their outing at Wanganui, were allotted pace exercise on the inside plough. Sandiark, who fell heavily recently and was thought to have possibly injured himself seriously, is apparently all right and cantered round without signs of anything being amiss with him. , Mr A. Alexander’s handsome Diacquenod—Wake Up filly is making steady progress and impresses by her style during her pace work. This filly will not be asked to race until the Christmas meetings, when she should be in capital condition. Richfield, who was not taken to Wanganui, strode out well in his exercise work and, all going well, will be. a competitor at Waverley next month.. Flyino- East, Gibraltar, Attentive,’ HaunuC Chief Line, March Alone, Oriel and Weathejzane were all allot-: ted exercise work on the inside. The two-year-old Whenuakura is to leave on Thursday for Foxton, where, he will be ridden by L. G. Morris^ The Tiger has not accepted tor I'oxton and is unlikely to race at the Otaki fixture. His next appearance will probably be Waverley.
