FORFEITURE OF INSUR ANCE PROBATION FOR A YEAR (By Telegraph—Press Association.) OAMARJU, Sept. 26. Cicely King pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to-day to a charge of attempting to obtain £25 5s from the National Insurance Company by false pretence. Tlie evidence disclosed that her furniture was held 1 under a hire purchase agreement, but King made a declaration that no other persons had an interest in the furniture, later admitting that ceitain articles had been sold before a fire destroyed the house and contents. An assessor’s list valued the furniture at £259 and the insurance was £2OO. A,s a result of King’s action she lost all the insurance.

The magistrate (Mr H. W. Bundle) said King acted in a very" foolish way. He was 'unable to think the case was one calling for imprisonment. King elected to be dealt- with summarily and was convicted and admitted to probation for twelve montli-s. She was ordered to pay the expenses of the prosecution. £6 18s 9d.
