Prior to the fire which badly damaged Mr Scott Paine’s racing motorboat Miss Britain HI., it attained a mean speed of 95.08 miles an hour, beating Miss Bettv Garstairs’ sea mile record of 86.21 and Sir Henry Segrave’s unofficial record for single-engined boats of 92.78 miles an hour.
