Damages amounting to £SOOO are being claimed in the Supreme Court at Sydney by George Bell, Rand wick, from Herbert S. Thompson and S. Readford following the death of the thoroughbred mare Sundear while giving birth to a foal to Heroic at Thompson’s stiul, Tarwin Park. Readford is an employee at the stud. Bell stated that he bought Sundear in New Zealand for a little more than £2OO. He claimed that the mare died from inattention and that the foal was mutilated and killed during birth; therefore he lost the mare and the foal. The latter he valued at £450. The hearing was adjourned.
