ST. CUTHBERT’S SUNDAY

POPULAR CONCERT ITEMS

The last of a series of evenings in aid of funds for St. Cuthbert’s Sunday School was held m the Oddfellows’ Hall, Alanaia, on Friday night and was attended by a large number of parents and friends. A programme consisting of games and dancing and several items given by the children was much appreciated. The programme included the following: Maori song, “In a Canoe,” by Noeline Spooner and Pat Baldwin and chorus; recitation, “Saying Grace,” Joan Simmons; action song, “Bunny Rabbit,” Hazel Walters and chorus; recitation, “Going to Sea,” Peggy Lord; action song, “A Dog.’;s Dull Afternoon,” Ngaere Fox; recitation, “Baby on the Train,” Iris Rodie.; Dutch dance, Hazel Hobday and Ngaere Payne; song, “Nancy and the Moa,” June Rodie, Kathleen Lord, Merle Oryef, Gladys Lowe, Noe line Spooner, Pat Baldwin and Nancy Crompton; recitation, “Try,” Betty Simmons; action song, “Red Riding Hood,” Eunice Chons (Red Riding Hood), Fanny ,Tx>rd (Grandmother;, Betty' Simmons (wolf), Helen Davies (woodcutter), and Iris Rodie (Mother) ; recitation, “The First Letter,” Merle Cryer; song. “Captain Baby Bunting,” Eunice Chong. Iris Rodie and Joan Simmons and chorus; Gipsy dance Nancv Crompton; a frshoiman s song, ’“The Tidier,” Ray Abbott; action song, “Ten Little Nigger Boys,” Frank Vincent,, Eric Harrison, Bill Vincent, Noel Yarrow, Alan Olague, Douglas Clague, Ron Clare, Len Clare, John Instone and Ray Abbott. Several other impromptu: items were given by the children, including a. Maori song by Betty McLeod and Nancy Wei ham. At the conclusion of the programme the Rev. Mr Solomon thanked all those who had helped to make the evening a success and specially thanked Mrs Rodie, Miss B. Hobday and Mr and Mrs Abbott and Mr Hobday and a so the ladies who provided a dainty supper.
