Messrs Robt. Bell and R. B. Bell have disposed of their shares in the “Timaru Post” Co., Ltd. Mr E. Darroch, who has been manager for the company for a number, of years past and who lias now acquired an interest in the new business, has succeeded Mr R. B. Bell as managing director, states a Press Association message from Timaru.

The death of Mr T. Harry Penn, of Stratford, occurred this morning suddenly after a heart seizure. Ho had reached the age of eighty years. Mr Penn had been a resident of Stratford since 1883 and was therefore one of the earliest to settle there. He was specially well known in commercial liio and had been associated at one time with the borough council and then took up the post of secretary to various dairy companies in the district and to the hospital hoard. With these Mr Penn was associated right up to the time of his death. Mr Penn was a native of England and came to New Zealand when a young man. He is survived by his widow and one da ugh ter, Hope and one son, Thomas. His brothers are Messrs Walter J. (New Plymouth). Charles (Stratford) and Arthur (Auckland). Mr Brian Malone of Hawera is a nephew and Mrs H. N. Leardet of Stratford a sister.

Fire Brigade, Mr I A Morrison, submitted to the Fire ] Board to-day, stated that he had been] transferred from associate member t-' full member of the Institution of Fire Engineers of Great Britain. The board decided to send a message of congratulation to Mr Morrison.
