HAiRiD-FP DANCE

FANCY DRESS ASSEMBLY The fancy dress and “hard-up” dance organised by the Rawhitiroa Hall committee held at Rawhitiroa on Thursday night drew a splendid attendance, a large number of the dancers appearing in fancy costumes of varied hues and fashions. The hall was decorated with lemon and green streamers, and the floor, to which special attention had been, given, made a perfect dancing surface. After the grand march the judges, Mr and Mrs N. D. Connell, Eltham, made awards as follow: Ladies’ first prize, Miss Ada, Oust (Spanish Lady); men’s first prize, Mr Arthur Phillips (Bedouin) ; most original costum.es, Miss' Esther Cocker (Ghost) and Miss Lena Campbell .(Robinson Crusoe); best “hard-up” costumes, Mrs O. Gernhoefer and Mr Jim Genihoefer. Mrs Attrill played the music and Messrs Alex Baker and J. Gernhoefer were M’s.C. A competition was won by Mr D. Johnston and a Monte Carlo waltz by Mrs D. May and Mr T. Wilmshurst. Mr G. V. Thame, chairman of the hall committee, thanked those present for their assistance in helping to augment the hall funds. He especially thanked Mr and Mrs Connell for judging the fancy dresses. An excellent supper was served by the committee.
