COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL

SESSIONS NEAR CONCLUSION HAWERA PERFORMANCE. FOURTH DAY OPENING Vocal and instrumental music classes were judged hv Mr Wentworth Slater’ at St. John’s Presbyterian Hall this morning in continuation of the Hawera competitions festival! and laa-ge classes of elocution and dancing were taken by Miss Elizabeth Blake and Madame Edith Baird respectively at the Opera House. Variety was the keynote of both programmes and there were good attendances of parents and friends. This afternoon another large audience filled the Opera. House and it is expected that this evening’s performance, which concludes the festival, will be equally well patronised. In addition to the recalls in 15 classes to be judged finally this evening, awards also will /be made in soprano solo (four competitors) and classical dance under 13 years (eight competitors). The first stages of the following classes were completed, to-da.y up to the time the late edition of the “Hawera Star” went to press:—■
