RETURN OF WAR TROPHY
NAME PLATE OF EMDEN. (British Official Wireless.) Received 1.30 p.m., to-day. RUGBY, Feb. 26. The Australian Resident Minister at London, Mr. S. M. Bruce, will at Berlin on Monday hand to President Hmdenburg the nameplate of the German cruiser Emden which was destroyed by the cruiser H.M.S. Sydney on November 9, 1914. The presentation is being made in token of goodwill on the part of the Australian Government.
ARRIVAL AT BERLIN. WELCOME TO MR BRUCE. Received 2.30 p.m. to-day. BERLIN, Feb. 26. After IP hours on a railway .journey across snow-covcred country, Hr S. M. Bruce, the first- Australian member of the Cabinet officially to visit Berlin, arrived from Geneva to-day. He was welcomed at the station by Sir Horace Rumbold and the entire- staff of the British Embassy, Baron von Neurath and his wife, and the head 1 of the Press department on behalf of the German Government.
Sir Horace Rumbold’s guests at w dinner in honour of Mr Bruce to-night included Baron Neurath, President Hindonburg, Herr Hitler, General Runstcdt, Marshal of flic- Diplomatic Corps, Admiral Racder, and Graf Nicholas Zadobna, ex-ca-ptain of the raider Moewc. The name-plate ceremony lias been- fixed for 11.30 a.m, to-morrow.
