The. general inference is that an irregular depression, which has caused very heavy rains in .Nelson and the western half o-f the South Island, has been moving very slowly across the Dominion. The pressure has risen /considerably over the western Tasman Sea, and the rain area should extend ■gradually northwards before a ,southerly change occurs.
