ONLY ONE RIDER SUCCEEDS

MOTOR CYCLE TRIAL COURSE. TEST FOR IS.LE OF MAN TEAM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Jan. 30. Only one rider completed the course m the third annual New Zealand tourist trophy race for motor-cycles which was held at Waiheke Island to-day. There were nine starters but crashes or mechanical troubles accounted ler all but S. Moses (Auckland), who was tirst in 1931 and finished second in last year’s race. Moses covered the 25 laps of the course, a total distance of 168 miles, in 3hrs._J.3nun. 0 1-3 sec., and was the only rider who dil not fall at any stage. In spite of the large number of fails only one rider was injured seriously, H. *W. Youren (Auckland) receiving a dislocated left shoulder when his n achme* plunged down a bank in the seventeenth Jap. An excellent race was ridden by L. Sowerby (Auckland) who covered several laps with his handle-bars bent after a crash, only to have his motor fail in the 24th circuit. Machine trouble also accounted for A. Mattson, B. Brav, R. Lockett (Waihi), L. Perry and'C. Goldberg. H. Fletcher had Ins left hand injured when he fell and could not continue. ( Two New Zealand representatives to take part in the international Tourist Trophy races at the Isle of Man next .June will be chosen from the competitors in to-day’s race, who were watched bv three representatives of the New Zealand Auto Cycle Union.
