CUT IN BASIC WAGE

The Canadian National and Canadian Pacific Railways have served notice to engineers, firemen, conductors, trainmen, yardmen and telegraphers, constituting the running trades, of a 20 per .cenlt. reduction in the basic ratei of wages to become effective on March S. The new rate is .10 per cent, below that paid during the past year. The reduction involves 26,000 men.
