While Franco waits for the new -Government the Budget deficit is growing at the -rate <jf £10,500 hourly. Consequently the po-st of Finance Minister is the hardest tot fill. M. Hernot’s newspaper “Le Rienouville” hopes, that M. Daladier will be able to collaborate with the majority of the- parties and also carry out the programme which M. .Herriot considered necessary.

TAXATION PLANS RESENTED. POLICE DISPERSE CROWDS. PARIS, Jan. 30. M. Daladier, who is a schoolmaster and is trying to form a: Cabinet to replace M. Paul Boncour’s, proposes to seek the participation of Socatists, but if they decline he will try to form a Cabinet of the Left on a broader basis than M. Herriot’s or M. Boncour’s M. Daladier’s overtures are likely to involve protracted negotiations, though the necessity of balancing the budget is most urgent. Serious rioting yesterday indicates a tense situation. Demonstrators representing taxpayers endeavoured to march on the' presidency. Mounted and foot police tried to prevent them, hurt the thousands of men and women singing the Marseillaise were not even intimidated by the display of steelhelmeted guards from the Quai d’Orsay. When mounted police finally dispersed the crowd .several were injured and numerous' arrests were made. Even bigger demonstrations are being arranged. Fifty thousand taxpayers have applied for tickets for a meeting to-day, and similar demonstrations are being arranged in all parts of France. -
