TARANAKI TOURNEY ENDS NEW PLYMOUTH WINS FINAL MARGIN OF 16 POINTS The final of the Taranaki Centre bowling tournament at the Vogeltowu o-reeni ni New Plymouth on Saturday resulted in a somewhat easy win for the New Plymouth rink skipped by A. Uirr.xs who defeated the Te Aroha rink skipped by J. Buchan by 26 points to 10. There was a large crowd of spectators. Contrary to expectations the ,cranio was a disappointing one, the To Aroha team not striking form at all. Papps invariably beat Clothier, and Hill always a. tower of strength to his team, outplayed Margeson. The result waiS' that Higgs on almost every head was lying one or more shots and Hooker and himself were able to play for position. Buchan drove the shot out, hut Higgs replied by drawing another, right on the jack. Higgs, 26—8. Hill drew a toucher on the 19th, and his. second was also a counter. Joll carried the kitty back foi two, these counting right- through.— Iliergs, 28 —10. The last two heads were net played. PRESENTATTON OF TROPHIES At the close of play Mr A.. K. Smart apologised for the absence of the centre president (Mr F. A. Quin) and extended congratulations to Higgs and the members of his team on their success. Mr Smart then presented the tournament trophies and the responses were tendered by the respective skips.
