SCHOOLS REOPEN WEDNESDAY

CROWD TRAVELLING BY RAIL Primary schools in Taranaki, as in other Education Board districts, reopen after the summer vacation on Wednesday next, February 1. Secondary schools will not resume until Tuesday of next week, February 7. A lai ■ge number of children who have been spending the holidays in other districts returned home last week, but tlie express trains passing through Hawera to-day were again crowded. The south bound express to Wellington consisted of seven cars and an additional carrjage had to be attached for the accommodation af outward passengers. Similarly he 11 o’clock express from Wanganui carried a large number of young people accompanied by their .parents and it was anticipated that the accommodation. of other trains north and south this afternoon and evening would bo fully taxed.
