A>. Russell fisherman, Mr H. Stonex. liacl thrilling experience with a swordfish willieh he hooked when fish 111,2; from a dinghy, using his big rod, but without harness. Time and again in its lighting flurry the fish came within inches of hitting the boat with its sword, and in one rush, which just missed the dinghy, its flurry drenched the fisherman with water. After 20 minutes Mr Stonex got into his launch which had drawn alongside the boat, and ho played the fish for an hour before getting it. The swordfish was a. 230-pounder. Fishermen at YVhnngaroa have been having good sport, but Zone Grey’s party at Mercury Ray has lost 23 days’ fishing out of 43 days through stormy weather.
