WEDDING BELLS, PASCOE—EVANS. The Methodist Church, Kaponga, was well filled on Wednesday afternoon, January 18, on the occasion of the wedding of Miss Myrtle Evans, second 1 daughter of Mrs I. E. Evans 1 and the late Mr C. Evans, of Ivaponga, to Mr J. Robert Pascoe, second son of Mr and Mrs J. Pascoe, of Kaponga. The church had been artistically decorated in autumn tonings by Mrs A. E, Anderson. The Rev. J. R.. Nelson, the minister of the church, officiated and 1 the service was choral, members of the choir leading with the" hymn “The voice that breathed o’er Eden” as the bride entered! the church, escorted by her brother, Mr C. Evans, of New Plymouth. Mrs* R. G. Cook, the church organist, played voluntaries befitting. the occasion, and at the conclusion Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March.” The bride looked charming in .a. frock of ivory satin, modelled to the figure and cut on straight lines, falling in flares at the hemline. The bodice and 1 sleeves were effectively trimmed with silk lace and diamente. Her veil, which was lent by Mrs Free, was daintily arranged to form a cap* with orange blossom. She carried a pretty bouquet of roses • and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Muriel Evans, sister of the bride, and Misses Maviis Guy and Myrtle Smith, cousins of the bride. They were similarly attired in fashionable frocks of flame coloured velvet and Dolly Warden hats. Each carried a. bouquet, in tones of tangent blue, which had been artistically made by Mrs N. C. Davies. The best man was Mr George Pascoe, brother of the bridegroom and .Mr R*. Cuff was groomsman.

.. The reception was held in the Parish Hall where Mrs. Evans received, her guests in a navy georgette ensemble,, and carrying a bouquet in pink tonings; T|ie bridegroomfs .mother,_ Mrs. J. Pascoe, wore an ensemble of black and white, her bouquet being in autumn tints. The toast of the happy couple was proposed by the Rev. J. R. Nelson and the response was given bv Mr. Pascoe. Mi-. E. Pepperell proposed the health of the bride’s mother and Mr. J. Tyack the health of the bridegroom’s parents, the responses being given by Ivlr. C. Evans and Mr. Nicholson. Mr. C. Stewart’s name was coupled with the t-oast of the bride and bridegroom and Mr. F. Guy with that* of the bride’s mother. The threetier wedding cake was made by the bride’s mother and iced by Mr. O. H. Brewer. The happy couple left on the honeymoon trip by car, the bride’s travelling dress being a lido blue suit with white georgette trimmings and white tagel straw hat. She carried a handbag to tone, the gift of the bridegroom. The honey mooli is being spent in the Napier, Taupe and I&otoriia districts. ' GENERAL AND PERSONAL. Playing at Opunake in a challenge match for the Tait Stars, the Ivaponga croquet ladies were successful m defeating Opunake by 42 to 38. The holders 'had won tlio stars from Park (Hawera) 'the previous week. ine scores were (Kaponga teams mentioned first): Mesdames Brewer and I ait 16 v. Fletcher, of Wellington, are spending a holiday m Kapoima and are staying with Mrs Fletcheris mother, Mrs. Swadlmg, Manaia Road.
