EXCHANGE RISE OPPOSED
WAIPUKURAU CHAMBER, “ROBBING PETER TO PAY PAUL.” (By Ter^g-raph—Truss Association.) WAIPUKURAU, Jar.. 28. The executive of the Waipulcurau Chamber of Commerce passed a resolution whole-heartedly supporting the Associated Chambers’ -stand in condemnation of the Cabinet’s action in raising the exchange rate. The member of Parliament for the district will he advised accordingly. The -consensus of opinion was that the plan was inequitable and would he ineffective as a means of aiding the most needful section of farmers. It was likened to- “robbing Peter to pay Paul,” especially as a -severe reduction in the local unemployment allocation is still in operation.
