HOTEL WORKERS’ AWARD
APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEE
MEETING AT NEW PLYMOUTH
Under a clause of the Licensed Hotel Employees’ Award, which came into operation on October 19 last, provision is made for the’ setting up of a disputes committee to investigate minor complaints. Ihe first such meeting in Taranaki was held yesterday at New Plymouth, Messrs AY. Graham (New Plymouth) and L. 0. Hooker (Hawera) representing the employers and Messrs II- I* ulton and Fraser the emplyees. Mr. P. Coyle, general secretary of the licensed trade, Wellington, was also in attendance. Air. explained how the committee was operating in AVellington. stating that valuable work was being achieved. Mr. Fulton said that the employers were only two pleased to work in an amicable spirit, and he felt sure that the operations of the committee would be in the mutual interests of both parties. Manv small complaints were dealt with and further meetings of the committee will be held when occasion arises. Mr. Hooker was appointed honorary secretary.
