The hardening in the market of late and the increased exchange rate were reflected in to-day’s wool sale, when 25,050 bales were offered to a representative attendance of buyers. Values appreciated 2d a lb for fine wools and Id to lid for crossbred. It was the best sale for two years. The Continent, particularly Germany and Japan, secured most of the 'catalogue sold for abroad, but Dominion mills were keen buyers of super lots, competition was fierce at times and much more elasticity was noticeable in buyers’, limits. Some exceptionally good clips of C.orriedale -were ottered and sold up to 14id. Medium halfbred brought to llld and pieces were keenly sought at about 9d. The best price for halfbred was 13jd. , Fine pieces showed a striking advance, ranging from 2ci to 2-Jd: - ■ , f \s evidence of tlie keen character or the sales less than 200 bales were passed a record at local auctions.
