KAUPOKONUI BEACH

ANNUAL GALA DAY. SWIMMING AND DIVING SPOUTS. Over 100 cars, three buses, and several lorries were at the Kaupokonui Beach yesterday to convey' the people from town and country who visited the annual gala. There were also numbers of -cycles arid -motor cycles, ‘' and ' an estimate of the crowd was about 1000 people.

Mr A. Gamlin, the organiser, had the able assistance ox Mr W. A. McKenzie as hon. secretary, Mr O. Bnrke as announcer by megaphone Air G. Livingston as judge of diving, and Airs E. T. Burke as assistant judge in various events. An interesting series of races was held and competition was very keen.

The vehicles were controlled by Mr J. McKee, service officer of the Automobile Association. -An interesting programme of music was' contributed by the Auroa Pine Band.

The results of the competitions were as follow: Girls under 12. M. Instone 1, B. McLeod 2.
