SYDNEY, Jan. 25. The Customs' authorities have been set a problem over the fish cargo brought from New Zealand waters by' the trawler Alfie Cam. /The vessel, which is owned in Australia, called at the Manukau Harbour to land a man for medical treatment.
Having thus touched New Zealand, the point is whether the fish in her holds,' largely of New Zealand varieties, which, if brought here Iby trading vessels, would ibe subject to a 10 per cent primage duty and whether the fish is liable to the duty. Customs officers boarded the Cam and sent a report to Canberra, but the, , general opinion is that the duty will not be imposed. PLAN OF WEEKLY VISITS. SYDNEY, Jan. 25. The trawler, Alfie Cam, arrived at Sydney from New Zealand to-day The vessel, which is owned by Cam and Sons, left Sydney about three weeks ago to ti’v out a new scheme of weekly visits by one or other of the firm’s vessels to New Zealand waters. A representative of the concern recently visited both the North and ,South Islands to study fishing conditions in Dominion waters, and their possibilities for the Sydney market.
