NEW NAPIER CARNIVAL

■ ———— CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE. VISITORS CROWD TOWN. (By Telegrapn—Press Association.’. NAPIER, Jan. 24. The New Napier carnival was continued to-day in perfect weather. The day’s proceedings included a bowling tournament, the official opening of France House at Eskdale by the Gov-ernor-General, Lord Bledisloe, a children’s afternoon on Marine Parade, a swimming carnival, open-air entertainments and a fireworks display.

The town is still crowded with visitois and all the functions have been largely attended. The Governor-Gen-eral and Lady Bledisloe, who have been the ' guests of Mr. W. Kinross White, Omarunu, performed the last of his Excellency’s official duties at the opening of France House ‘this morning, and later proceeded to Tunanu, where their Excellencies will be the guests of iSir Andrew Russell for a few days. They will then proceed to Dannevirke for the night, and thence to the Wairarapa district.
