STRUCK BY FLYING HAMMER
BOY HURT’ AT NAPIER
PAIRi KNOCKED OFF FENCE
(By Telegrapn —Press Association.) ‘ NAPIER, Nov. 17. Concussion was received by a 14-year-old boy, Gavin Stuart, this evening when lie was hit on the side of the head by a 181 b hammer which had been thrown by an athlete named Campbell when practising on McLean Park at the conclusion of the Napier athletic meeting. As Campbell was about to throw the hammer either he slipped or the hammer left in a direction he did not anticipate and went towards two boys sitting on a fence 50 or 60 yards away Both ho vs were knocked from the fence. Stuart was struck on the side of the head, while the other hoy was struck only by the chain. The latter soon recovered,, hut Stuart was removed to hospital. His condition is serious.
