CHRISTMAS PR EPARATIONS. SUCCESSFUL SOCIAL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The euchre and flag bridge and dance social held on Wednesday evening in the Manaia town hall by the Manaia Christmas Festivities Committee was a great success. The flag bridge was won by Mesdames A. G. Bennett, E. Burke, and Aliss C. Vine. The men’s euchre prize was won by Air. E. Long after a play-off with Mr. J. .Borne. and the ladies’ prizes were won by' Mrs. T. Walsh (1) and Miss White (2). after a, play-off. Music was supplied by tho Dixie Orchestra and a splendid supper was provided by the ladies’ committee. Mr. E. Long kindly donated tbs men’s euchre prize to the committee for the children’s Christmas festivities. Mr. L. A. Walters thanked the Women’s Division and the Indies’ and men’s committees for their work* in connection with the function. TENNIS M EETI NO. At a general meeting of the Alanaia Old Students’ Tennis Club, held in tho High School on Alonday night, the following office-bearers were elected: President, AH. D. G. Shcrson; secretary. .Miss C. Edwards; committee. Misses F. Walker, L. Duncan. AL Cosgrove, and Messrs W. Edwards and E. Rothery. The club held its opening day on Wednesday afternoon with a ynnkee tournament, the winners being A. Davis and Miss D. Gundesen. and the run-ners-up C. Hobday and Miss S. AloDonald. PERSONA L. The Rev. W. F. Stent, formerly vicar of St. Cuth hurt's Church, Alanaia, and now vicar at Carterton, is on a visit to Alanaia and is a guest of the Rev. O. W. Solomon at the vicarage.
