SUPERANNUATION FUND

OBJECTION TO THE BILL.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, Nov. 17. Evidence on behalf of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association was placed before the select committee on superannuation to-dav. The association takes the view that, notwithstanding -flie default of the State in the past, there is no immediate cause foi alarm, even without a. change. Under present conditions the fund can carry on for years to come, certainly long enough to enable the country to recover from the depression and consequently allow the Government to increase " its contribution and eventually overtake the liability. xl The association requests that tne Bill be not proceeded with, because “(1) it is unnecessary, (2) it is a breach of contract, (3) it will impose hardship on those who have fulfilled, their share of the contract, and (4) it will do immense damage t-o the prestige and good reputation of New Zealand.
