' The flood waters in the Lower Valley are gradually receding, but it is not expected that some properties will be clear again for several weeks. Others will be back at normal in a much shorter time. Water is still over the Lower Kahutara Road. The most serious phase of the flood at the moment, sa'Sd Mr. A. D. McLeod, M.P., was the damage to the river protection works at Tawaha and Ahiakouka, These had suffered severely and upon his representations to the Minister of Lands had agreed to an immediate inspection being carried out.
