OLD NEW ZEALAND SKETCHES
RESCUE ON TARANAKI COAST ARTIST’S WORK RECALLED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) SYDNEY, Sept. 5. In an article written for the “Sydney Morning Herald” Mr Erie Ramsdeh, a New Zealand journalist, records the existence of 'several sketches by Lieutenant Thomas AVoore, an officer of the warship Alligator, which rescued Mrs ’ ’Guard and children from the Taranaki coast in 1834. As Lieutenant AVoore was an eyewitness of the incidents Mr Ramsden regards the sketches, which have been in the possession of the Busby family for half a- century, as of historic value to New Zealand. Other sketches, none of which has been hitherto described, include scenes at the Ba x - of Islands, Whangaroa and Kapiti. v
