FAST TIMES IN WIND
RUNNERS AT TORONTO. WORLD RECORDS ESTABLISHED. Press Association —By Electric TclegrapW Copyright.! TORONTO 1 , Sept. 3. Smashing' the world record, Miss Stella Walsh (Poland) won the 100metre dash at the ‘Canadian national exhibition track and field meeting here to-day in 11.8 s. Miss Hilda Strike (Montreal)* was second 1 and Miss Nellie Halstead (England) third. The record is not likely to be recognised as there was a strong following wind. Ralph Metcalfe (U.S. negyo) won the 220 yards dash in 19.8, a world record, but here again the extreme wind will probably prevent recognition.
