COTTON INDUSTRY DISPUTE
PROSPECT OF INTERVENTION. INQUIRIES BY MINISTER. (British Official Wireless.) Received 12.50 p.m. to-day. RUGBY, Sept. 2. Although no official attempt at mediation has yet been undertaken in the strike in the manufacturing section of the Lancashire cotton industry which began last Monday, the prospects of intervention are being actively explored by the Minister of Labour, Sinr Henry Betterton. The general situation was reviewed to-day by organisations of the operatives and employers, which met independently in Manchester. It was stated that the meetings, had no reference to plans~for mediation.
