TOUR BY M.C.C. TEAM. DULEEPSI NHjT REPLACED. LONDON, Aug. 31. It is officially stated, that in view of Duleepsinhji’s illness E-. Pavnter (Lancashire) has been added to the M.C.C. team to go to Australia. Duleepsinhjl will be unable to sail on September 19, but it is hoped that lie will be able to join the team later. Paynter’s choice is a surprise to most critics. It was expected that R. Tyldesley (Lancashire) would be chosen if another batsman was needed, or James Langridge (Sussex) if an allrounder was wanted. Pavnter, who is 30 years of age, is slightly built and is a good field, but he fails to suggest great confidence when he goes to the wicket, at which he is rather cramped in stance. He is a strong hitter when set. He opened for Lancashire this season, so lie may be Sutcliffe’s partner.
