OPERA- HOUSE. “HELLS DIVERS” “Hells Divers,” Metro-Gold wynMayer’s romance; of naval aviation, which shows at the Hawera Opera House to-night and at the matinee and evening screenings on Monday, combines aeroplane manoeuvres with a dramatic plot. The picture co-stars Wallace Beery and Clark Gable. Prominent supporting roles are filled by Conrad Nagel, Dorothy Jordan, Marjorie Rambeau, Marie Prevost, Cliff Edwards and John Miljan. Beery, a government license aviator, actually participates in some of the unusual flying stunts shown in this picture. Filmed at Panama during the naval manoeuvres, aboard the aircraft-car-rier Saratoga, and, at North Island, “Hells Divers” has' all the sensations of the great naval concentration in which the entire United States battle fleet figured. Hundreds of ’planes wheel and dive through breath-taking stunts in formation. The bombing ’planes, known as “Hells Divers,” hurl themselves straight down two miles in less than half a minute, to catapult bombs at a ship target. A giant Zeppelin makes a landing ou the battleship deck. The story deals with the rivalry between Beery, a.s a navy veteran, and Gable, a new type of sailor, and typifies the conflict between old and new ideas in naval operations. The central romance is between Beery and Miss Rambeaui, wh.o has waited years for “her man.”
