INJURED RUGBY PLAYERS
TREATMENT AND ALLOWANCE. WELLINGTON‘ALTERATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 2. Negotiations were completed by the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union last evening for injured players to be treated at Lewisham Hospital instead of the Wellington Public Hospital as formerly. This is the outcome of a decision of the Hospital Board to adhere to its resolution to charge full maintenance rates. It was reported that the board had advised the union that it insisted upon the payment of four guineas a week plus the full charge for X-ray and massage treatment. Although provision has been made for a reduced scale of charges it is slightly higher than that which obtained previously at the public hospital. The meeting of the union delegates last evening confirmed the new arW. rangement. The meeting also adopted the union’s proposal that its payments made to players laid up as a result of injuries should be reduced in the case of senior, junior and third grade players from 30s to 20s a week and in the case of players in lower grades from 10s to 7s 6d weekly.
