WEDDING
HAWKES—JOHNSON. A wedding of interest to. residents of Fraser Read and surrounding districts took place on Wednesday, June 1. at the Methodist Church, Hawera, when Evelyn, third daughter pf [Miami Mrs. J. Johnson, of Fraser Road., was married to Gilbert Edward Hawkes, eldest son of Mr and Mrs. C. Hawkes of Carteron, 'and formerly of Fraser Road. The bride looked charming in a pretty frock of ivory lace with embroidered veil and orange blossoms. Her sister Margery, as chief bridesmaid wore a soft blue lace frock with blue felt hat to> match. Miss N. Sanderson, the other bridesmaid, wore a pink lace, frock and pink felt hat to match. Mr. J. Thompson acted as best man and Mr. H. Palmer as groomsman. After the ceremony Miami Mrs. Johnson entertained about( r-.ixty guests at a reception at the Carl ton, after which the happy couple left by car for Wanganui, speeded by tlio good wishes of a host of friends.
