The draw to determine the order of play in the first day’s 'Davis Cup matches on Friday between Australia and the United States will be hejld on Thursday at noon. The question whether Allison or Shields will represent the United States in one of the singles had not been decided to-day after Shields defeated Allison by three sets to one in a test match. Vines is the other United States singles representative. After watching the Australian stars, Crawford and Hopman, in practice matches Mr. Rernon Prentice (chairman of the United States Davis Cup committee) predicted that the Australians will give the American players a stirring battle. He advanced‘the opinion that Crawford “has the effortless style of Henri Cochet and is one of the world’s greatest tennis players.” 'Plie Australian captain (Olemenger) declared he was optimistic over his team’s- chances.
