TEAM FOR OLYMPIAD

LADY RUNNER’S CHAPERON. DISCUSSION BY COUNCIL. fJ?v Telegrrapti—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 24. Arrangements in connection with the sending of a team to represent the Dominion at the Olympic Games at Los Angeles this year were further advanced at a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Olympic Games and British Empire Sports Association last night. Mr. H. Amos (chairman) presided. The secretary reported that lie had received no definite information that anyone would be going to the Games with the exception of the three who were nominated by the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association. He was informed that an effort was being made to send C. E. Evans, the middledistance runner.

A lengthy discussion arose over the question of chaperoning Miss T. Kench the only woman member of the team. The opinion was expressed thqt the council should accept no responsibility for chaperoning. Mr. J. W. Heenan said it appeared the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was not inclined to accept any responsibility. If a woman was to go the national association should at least say whether or not she should he sent without a chaperon. After further discussion Mr. Heenon moved that arrangements made for the chaperoning of Miss Kench he communicated to the N.Z.A.A.A. and that that body ho asked if it was iirepared to concur.

Tt was decided that the £l4O renamed to be deposited for each member of the team must be in the hands of the council by the end of the present month.
