SUPREME COURT
SESSION AT NEW PLYMOUTH. TRUE BILLS IN ALL CASES. The quarterly session of the Supreme Court for the judicial district of Taranaki opened yesterday before the Hon. Mr Justice Reed. True bills were returned in all the cases, namely:— Alfred George Walker, alleged negligence in driving a motor-car, resulting in death. Pikau Pokau, alleged reckless driving, causing death. Christian de Rink, alleged attempt to discharge a firearm at a police officer ,and assault. Raymond Jack Vernon Elliott, alleged theft of parts of a motorcar. Frances Michael Landers, alleged false declaration under the Marriage Act. Geo. Roberts, alleged attempted rape. Pokau, a Maori, pleaded guilty, and was remanded until Friday afternoon on a charge of manslaughter in that on February 26 on the Glover Road, in the borough of Hawera, he drove a motorcar negligently and collided 1 with a bicvcle ridden by Reginald Ernest Duggan, who was killed. There was an alternative charge of negligent driving causing death. The court then proceeded with the trial of Walker.
