BROTHERHOOD AND CHURCH ATTENDANCE.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Kindly permit me to correct a mistaken impression that may be conve\ed by one paragraph in your otherwise admirable report of the Kaponga Men’s Brotherhood meeting appearing in last night’s “Star.’’ The wording of the paragrph iii question might suggest, quite unintentionally, of course, that it is a matter ot indifference to the promoters of the society whether or no the men attend church service at the close of a Brotherhood meeting. That, it should be unnecessary to sa3 r , is far from being the case. My committee' would wish to have it clearly understood that it is their most earnest desire that the members stay to the after-service, though naturally there is nothing in our rules which makes that procedure obligatory. There is no need to camouflage our object, which is to deepen the interest of men m the services of the church, by the adoption' of methods which should make it plain that the church is not wholly uninterested in the men ol the age, and desires to serve their highest needs. We take it that the men who
attend our Brotherhood meetings will naturally desire to respond to this gesture of the church —a gesture oi' goodwill.—l am, etc.,
JOHN 11. NELSON, President of' the Brotherhood Kaponga, May 24, 1932.
