HAWERA UNEMPLOYED
RELIEF WORK ALLOCATED. BOARD’S GRANT; INSUFFICIENT. The Unemployment Board’s weekly grant for the payment of relief work wages to Hawera unemployed has never been sufficient to give every man his full quota of two, three or four days’ work according to classification. For this week, however, the Hawera Unemployed Relief Committee received authority for an amount £IOO short of its requirements and immediate representations were made to the board for an increase. On Saturday it was announced that the deficiency had been reduced to £75 and work wars allocated that evening on the basis of one day for A class (single) men, two days for B class married men with or without one child, two and a-half days lor B class married men with two children and three and a-half days for C class men with more than two children. Men were allocated work as follows: Normanby Town Board, seven B class and eight C class men ; Hawera County Council, 11 A class, 51 B and 16 iO class men,; Hawera Bio'rough Council, four A class, 33 B and 14 ( cass men; South Committee, Figment National Park Board, one B f class mail; Ararata, Matapu and Turutuiu schools, one C class man each; Hawera Main School, two 0 class men; Hawera Hospital Board, seven B class and one C class men; Joll Park and Okaiawa School, two B class and one C class men.
