EUCHRE AND DANCE PARTIES

The first of a series of euchre parties and dances in aid of the Hurieyville Hall funds, arranged by the committee, was held last Tuesday. The prizes were won by Mrs Illingworth (Alton) and Mr Waller (Hurieyville), 21 tables being in the hall. Points prizes will be presented at the end of the series. .Lhe dance organised by Miss Poppy Hurley, also m aid of the funds, drew a large crowd from all over the district. The organiser and a committee had taken much trouble in decorating the hall, which looked very pretty with its gay streamers of jade green, brown and yellow. Gilmore’s orchestra supplied the music and extras were played by Miss M. Hurley and Mr E. Waller. Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Miss Stone and Mr. K. Bird and Mr. W. A. Tayler and partner. Among those present were: Mesdames J. Hurley (black velvet and georgette), Fullarton (black crepe de cliine, touches of beige), Taylor (green velvet and lace), It. Hurley (figured ray de dime), J. Hurley (navy silk), Dunibar (floral crepe de chine), Houlihan (floral georgette, touches of pink), Adlam (black velvet) Misses I. and R. Hurley (black satin), Jean Allan (flame taffeta), Joyce Allan (lemon taffeta), D. Scown (midnight blue satin), D. Stone (red net and satin), M. Hurley (mauve silk and lace), J. Dunbar (old gold crepe suede), P. Sangster (pink embroidered voile), Joan Adlam (floral georgette, trimmed with green), M. Hurley (black satin, with white touches’), and L. Zimmerman (red silk).
